Welcome to the
McDowell Environmental Center!
This is a place where.....
| a science class, standing in a cool, running stream, studies and learns about the creatures that live there, |
|
 |
students can see and feel exactly what they are being taught, all at the same time, |
| where students learn to be fascinated by a shiny beetle when yesterday they were afraid of it. |
 |
This is the essence of the McDowell Environmental Center. The Center is a non-profit, educational organization which provides one to five day outdoor learning experiences for school groups. This extension of the classroom strives to:
- Increase the student's awareness and understanding of environmental science.
- Encourage responsibility for the environment.
- Foster cooperation and a community feeling.
The McDowell Environmental Center provides a non-sectarian program and welcomes all students regardless of race, religion or gender. Many classes can be adapted to accommodate individuals with special needs.
