Wilderness First Responder Class McDowell Environmental Center (MEC) is hosting a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training February 3-10, 2010.  The WFR training is through SOLO Southeast.  The cost of $650  will include the WFR training, lodging and meals for the entire 8 days.  This is an incredible bargain, since SOLO’s usual cost of the WFR alone is $600!    Lodging will be in camp cabin type housing with baths located inside each cabin.  These have heat and hot water.  Lodging will include the night before training starts on the 3rd.   There will be three meals a day beginning with the first day breakfast.  There will be a refrigerator and coffee pot available in the lodging area if participants want to bring extra snacks and beverages.  For more information or to register for this class, contact Alicia Hall, MEC Project Coordinator, at ventureout@campmcdowell.com or call her at 205-387-1806.  There is a maximum of 20 people accepted to this class, so please register soon.  We expect to fill quickly at this reduced rate.
