Miller Commons consists of five lodges and Pradat Hall, a meeting space that comfortably seats 100. Each of the 5 lodges in Miller Commons has 11 hotel style rooms, 6 upstairs and 5 downstairs, and both a front and back porch. Rooms 1 and 4, accessed from the front porch, are the handicap accessible rooms. Linens and towels are provided and every space is heated and cooled. The common spaces of each lodge can also be utilized as a meeting space for approximately 30 people.
Parsley Commons is the name for the lodging area in Bethany Village. It contains six lodges and Phifer Hall, a meeting space that comfortably seats 100. Each of the 6 lodges in Bethany Village has 11 handicap accessible hotel style rooms, 6 upstairs and 5 downstairs, and both a front and back porch. Linens and towels are provided and every space is heated and cooled. The common spaces of each lodge can also be utilized as a meeting space for approximately 30 people.
Built in 1978, Stough Lodge is named for The Rt. Rev. Furman Stough, former Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. Recently the lodging area has been renovated and the dining hall expanded. Stough Lodge has 18 hotel style rooms and two dormitory style rooms. There is a meeting area, soda machine, small kitchen, large living room, deck, and fireplace.
Upon its donation to Camp McDowell by the Scott family of Montgomery, the Scott House was taken apart log by log, moved to its present site, and rebuilt by the Rev. Mark Johnston and friends. With its four bedrooms with twin beds and 4 bathrooms, this beautiful pre-antebellum log cabin can accommodate up to 24 people. It is heated and air conditioned. Linens are not furnished, but can be for a small fee.
Each of the 10 cabins in Bethany Village can accommodate up to 18 guests of all abilities and ages. The cabins are heated and cooled; linens are not furnished.
Clear Creek Camp has 14 dormitory style cabins that can accommodate 11-16 people, and a few buildings with semi-private rooms. The cabins have indoor bathrooms with hot water showers. They are not air conditioned but are heated in winter. Linens are not furnished.
Camp McDowell’s meeting spaces are comfortable and conducive to growing, learning, playing, resting, and building relationships. Meeting spaces can be rented at a daily rate, but come with no extra charge to those already lodging with us.
Pradat Hall, located in Miller Commons, is equipped with a piano, small kitchen, restrooms, a covered porch with rocking chairs, and mounted Smart TV. WiFi is available if needed. Pradat Hall can comfortably accommodate 100 people seated.
Phifer Hall, located in Parsley Commons, overlooks the beautiful Sloan Lake. It can accommodate 180 people seated, and WiFi is available if needed. It features a catering kitchen, a mounted Smart TV, restrooms, and a large westward-facing covered porch with rocking chairs, making it a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy the often tremendous sunset.
Hall Hall is our new dance and performance hall in Bethany Village. It features a universally accessible stage and plenty of open floor spaces for dancing or meeting. This space can accommodate 250 people seated.
Doug Carpenter Hall is in the center of Bethany Village and is our largest meeting and dining hall. It looks like a barn and has a large fireplace at one end. A flip chart, tables and chairs can be set up per your request. This space can accommodate 800 people seated. It includes an internal sound system with handheld and lapel mics.
The Chapel of St. Francis has a spacious interior with moveable seating, modern concrete flooring, and warm, wood beams and paneling. It can accommodate 400 people seated. It includes an internal sound system with handheld and lapel mics.
Ascension Chapel is our chapel in lower camp. It is an open air chapel that can seat 200. Since its completion in 1952 it has been the cornerstone of worship spaces at Camp McDowell. Visitors of Ascension Chapel experience an immersion in and a connection to the beautiful nature that surrounds them, bringing about a unique sense of closeness to the divine.
Randall Commons is located underneath the Chapel of St. Francis. It can accommodate 180 people seated, and is furnished with restrooms and a kitchen.
The Stough Meeting Room is available for guests staying in Stough Lodge. It can accommodate 75 people seated, and has a small kitchen attached.
In all the lodges and throughout our campus there are indoor and outdoor spaces that can be utilized as breakout spaces. When making a reservation, please ask about what is available and our reservation manager can help you plan what best fits your group.
