Canteen

Each day, campers are given the opportunity to purchase drinks and snacks at our canteen. Most of our items are 60 cents and campers usually get two items per canteen (i.e. a drink and a snack). Canteen is offered once or twice a day depending on the age of the campers. $2.50 a day is usually more than enough to send for your child’s canteen money. We also offer gimp (lanyard material), camp bracelets, bumper stickers, etc. We ask that purchases of T-shirts be made on either the opening or closing day of each session and that this money not be included in the money you give your child for canteen.

Each child is given a Canteen Card on the first day of camp which represents the money they have available to them for purchases at canteen. They do not have to keep up with cash.

You will also notice on your Summer Camp Application that you can donate your child’s left over canteen money at the end of the session to the Camp McDowell Scholarship Fund. This is a great way to help us make sure that camp remains available to all who want to come.
