Diocesan Homecoming

Diocesan Homecoming is a weekend retreat in the summer for all members of the Diocese of Alabama as well as friends and family! Join your Diocesan family as we gather for fun in the sun through hikes, arts and crafts, plenty of games, swimming in the pool, paddle sports and much more! June 2019


Father/Son Retreat

Come and enjoy the celebration of all things men at the annual 2018 Father/Son Retreat. This year, our annual event has been moved for the first time to the Fall! We'll have the pool and creek for swimming, miles and miles of trails for hiking, plenty of marshmallows for roasting, and a really great time as Fathers and Sons spend that quality weekend together that is becoming more and more allusive! "Listening Devoutly" The McDowell Women's Retreat

Camp McDowell and the Commission on Spirituality invite you to explore, renew, and deepen spiritual connections with God at a retreat led by The Rev. Mary Bea Sullivan (St Luke's, Birmingham). Join a community of women for a weekend of listening to God, ourselves, and creation . Fresh fall air, farm to table food, rest, and rejuvenation await. Please join us!

Fall is the perfect time to reconnect with God's creation and others in Bethany Village @ Camp McDowell. All combinations of families are invited for a special weekend of fresh air, farm food, and quality time in the beauty of God's Backyard. Click the title above for more information. Winter Weekend

Winter Weekend may be cold, but the experience is full of the warmth of Camp McDowell-style fun and fellowship! Hang out with friends, enjoy games, singing, small groups, worship, s'mores and the always popular "Winter Wonderland Talent Show and Dance Party" ! This 3-night retreat takes place over Martin Luther King weekend for all 7th & 8th graders. Bring a friend. January 12-15, 2018.

Our Time Grief Support Retreat

Our Time Grief Support Retreat is a retreat offered at no charge by Camp McDowell for youth in the 6th-12th grades and an adult caregiver recovering from the loss of a close relative or friend. Click the link to find out more. March 2-4, 2018.


Awakenings Spiritual Retreat

Awakenings Spiritual Retreat is open to all 7th and 8th graders who are looking to reconnect with themselves and Christ in a loving and peer-led experience. High School students, college-aged counselors, clergy and lay leaders offer this retreat to 7th and 8th graders who are engaging with questions such as Who am I, Whose am I, and Who will I become. This thought provoking and poignant retreat offers something for any middle schooler that comes with an open heart for the work of Jesus in their life. March 16-18, 2018.

Mother/Daughter Retreat

Mother/Daughter Retreat is an annual event for all combinations of mothers and daughters, ages 1st grade and up. Join us for a spring weekend where we will celebrate the womanhood of all participants. More information to come! April 6-8, 2018.
