All combinations of families are invited for a special weekend of fresh air, farm food, and quality time in the beauty of God's Backyard! Spend time together as you harvest vegetables and feed the pigs, cut firewood, prepare and share a farm to table meal, learn sustainable practices for home, and enjoy a “Garden to Glass” class (while the kids are at "Kids Camp"). Family Farm to Table Retreat is a beautiful and fun way to reconnect with God’s creation and each other the weekend before Thanksgiving! Recommended for 1st grade and up.

Are you a 9th - 12th grader?

If YES - then we invite you to contact the Diocesan Youth Department by emailing alabamayouth@gmail.com or text to 205-370-7055 and request to be added to the list of YOUTH SAINTS for the upcoming event of Lessons & Carols at Wonderful Wonderful Camp McDowell!

9th - 12th graders are invited to help out at Camp McDowell's first-ever Lessons & Carols event by serving as "Saints" before, during, and after the event and dinner. Saints will help with tasks like greeting guests, handing out programs, and assisting in seating for the event as well as helping with set up, seating, and assisting in the dining hall for the meal in Doug Carpenter Hall. Saints will stay in the Stough Lodge dorms and receive the Christmas Dinner - both at no cost as a thank you for their service!

Join us for our first ever Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols service at Camp McDowell!

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship in which there is a blend of scripture reading and choral arrangements. The service will be a bridge from the contemplative season of Advent to the joyful season of Christmas. The service is an Anglican tradition celebrated around the world.

Tickets ($25 per person) will allow attendees the opportunity to experience the Lessons and Carols service featuring the choir of All Saints Episcopal Church from Homewood, Alabama, followed by a Camp McDowell Christmas meal in Doug Carpenter Hall. Childcare will be provided at extra cost during the service.

Date: Saturday, December 21st

Location: The Chapel of St. Francis at Camp McDowell

Time: Doors open at 2:30 p.m.; Program begins at 3:00 pm

Spend the night in one of our Parsley Commons Lodges at a discounted rate of $65 per room! Enjoy a hot breakfast on Sunday in Doug Carpenter Hall before heading back to St. Francis for a special 9 a.m. Sunday Service from Camp McDowell's Executive Director, the Rev. Corey Jones.

This retreat is for the spouses of the clergy within the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama in appreciation for their diligent support of our clergy. Clergy spouses can attend this retreat at no cost (room and board are covered). This retreat provides time to relax and has no agenda.

winter weekend 2020.png

Winter Weekend is a time for fun & fellowship for 7th & 8th graders at Camp McDowell. This 3-night retreat will offer time to be with camp friends and make new ones, to talk about matters of faith that are relevant to middle-school youth, to play games, sing, hike, worship, and laugh. Campers will enjoy afternoon activities, canteen, and a talent show!

Cost is $160 per person. Scholarships are available.
